About BOMA Nova Scotia

The Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) Nova Scotia is one of the eleven federated locals that together form BOMA Canada, which represents over 3,100 Canadian members in the industry and over 2.1 Billion square feet of office space.

Since its origins in the United States in 1907 BOMA has grown and prospered, dedicating itself to establishing best practices and researching real estate topics that would be valuable to commercial real estate managers, operators and suppliers. Our mandate at BOMA Nova Scotia is to provide commercial real estate leadership and support throughout Nova Scotia.

Mission Statement

To actively represent our members, through education, networking and lobbying, in matters affecting the ownership, management and operation of commercial properties.

President’s Message - John MacKenzie

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of BOMA Nova Scotia I want to wish everyone safe and prosperous 2025. Exciting things are on the horizon for BOMA Nova Scotia. We thank all of our members for their ongoing support, and we look forward to continuing to serve you to the best of our ability.

This year we are transitioning BOMA Nova Scotia leadership from our outgoing Executive Director, Hugh Bray, to the incoming Heather McGeown. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Hugh for his dedication to BOMA over the last two years, and we wish him all the best in his retirement. Heather is a dynamic leader with industry experience, and we're excited to see where she can take BOMA Nova Scotia from here. She will be building on the positive momentum we've generated recently, and we have no doubt she's up for the challenge.

In 2025, BOMA Nova Scotia will co-host, along with BOMA Canada, BOMEX 2025 in Halifax! BOMEX is Canada's premier commercial real estate conference, and it's an opportunity for us to showcase Nova Scotia's commercial real estate industry and the leaders within it. We'll play host to industry influencers and decision-makers as we review the complex issues affecting building owners and managers, and celebrate each other's successes.

This year we'll also be looking to grow our re-established local awards program, as well as our roster of signature events, educational sessions, and networking socials. Please be sure to read our eNews, sent out regularly for exciting regional and national BOMA content, including upcoming events and programs, educational opportunities, member news, award winners, and more!

Sincerely,

John MacKenzie, President
